Next week, some of the world’s fastest street-legal and purpose-built drag cars are headed to the Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas, for a timeframe from the 15th to the 18th of March, in order to partake in the world famous TX2K18 racing event. For anyone and everyone in the aftermarket tuning industry, this event holds a special place on the calendar. Held in the same drag racing and roll racing format for several years, TX2K always attracts the crème de la crème of the aftermarket tuning industry and enthusiasts alike. You’ll see everything from twin-turbo Huracans and Aventadors, supercharged Corvettes and Vipers, followed by twin-turbo Ferrari F12s, all the way to 2000 horsepower Nissan GTRs, Toyota Supras and various other high-performance machines.
For the most part, the Roll Race Nationals is the most appealing aspect of TX2K18. Featuring vehicles pitted into three classes, where the top 16 cars go to the Unlimited bracket, the next 16 in the Super Sport and the next 16 in the Sport bracket, these races feature some of the most well-known competition from the aftermarket tuning world. Grudge matches (callouts) will be allowed, alongside test-n-tune runs, yielding some interesting races that bring with them their own set of bragging rights. The TX2K18 will have a VHT tractor and a crew responsible for “prepping” the full 1,500 ft race distance.

Held at the JW Marriott in downtown Houston, the venue will boast tasty hors-d’oeuvres and unlimited assorted beers and beverages. With plenty of cool and interesting figures from both the racing and tuning world in attendance, race talk and interesting tidbits are sure to be a staple of conversation. Since the event venue is limited by capacity, you better hurry and grab a spot early.
