The Volkswagen Golf MKVI GTI is one of those vehicles that you either love or hate. For most car enthusiasts, there’s no middle ground. The vehicle is a logical continuation of the rather successful philosophy instilled into the Golf GTI lineup by the MKV GTI, but the MKVI wasn’t that much of an improvement. And in turn, that warranted many die-hard GTI enthusiasts to label this as a flop. However, the vehicle is one of the best hot hatches out there. It’s one of those cars that can easily be tuned to achieve both impressive acceleration times, but also, some pretty darn good track times.

The Golf MKVI GTI is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four engine. It delivers 210 horsepower and 207 lb-ft (280 Nm) of torque, good enough to propel the car from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in just 6.9 seconds. The vehicle came equipped with either a 6-Speed manual or a 6-Speed DSG (Direkt-Schalt-Getriebe). In short, DSG is an electronically controlled dual-clutch, multiple-shaft gearbox in a transaxle design. It features an automatic clutch operation and comes with either fully automatic or semi-manual gear selection. The first actual dual-clutch transmissions were derived from Porsche in-house development for their Model 962 racing cars in the 1980s and in recent years, have slowly found its way to both standard and high-performance hot hatches and sedans. And for the Golf GTI, this is the perfect transmission solution, allowing for blazing fast upshifts and ease of use, perfect for both the street and the racetrack.

This particular red Golf MKVI GTI comes with a few tuning bits. First, it features a set of CCW LM20 wheels and an Airlift V2 slam series suspension system. Both the wheel setup and the suspension provide for an impressive stance that can easily be adjusted for different driving scenarios. For this build, the CCW LM20 wheels come sized 19×9.5 in the front and 19×9.5 in the rear. Furthermore, the customer opted-in for a Matte Black finish and a white CCW centercap logo. Overall, a perfect combination for customers wanting a clean blacked out look for their vehicle.

However, the owner of this Volkswagen Golf GTI wasn’t done. By far.
