Similar to the likes of the BMW E60 M5, the Corvette C5 is slowly gaining more popularity with time passing by. Sure, it wasn’t a vehicle uniquely loved like the C4 or the C6 after it, but the C5 Corvette certainly has its appeal. Produced from 1997 – 2004, the vehicle was powered by the all-new 5.7 V8 LS1 engine, producing 350 horsepower and offering either an five-speed automatic transmission (four forward and one reverse gear) or a 6-speed manual, capable of a 175 mph (282 km/h) top speed.
Acceleration times are pretty impressive with the C5, and are on par with some of the most popular supercars of the day. It could accelerate from 0-60mph (0-100km/h) in 4.5 seconds. The vehicle is able to run the quarter-mile in around 13.3 seconds at 108 mph (both times for a vehicle equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission). On par with the likes of the Aston Martin DB7 Vantage or the highly-coveted Ferrari F355 and the likes, an impressive feat for the American muscle car, for sure.
